Bellissima hitches a ride on Tai An Kou Bellissima hitches a ride on Tai An Kou

German operator Nicko Tours announced the safe arrival of river cruise vessel Bellissima in Venice. The 2003-built ship will start a new itinerary from Venice to the Po River in March. Previously it operated on the Danube.

For the transport to Venice, Bellissima was loaded onto the semi-submersible heavy lift vessel Tai An Kou in Rotterdam in mid-January.

After a 16-day journey, the Chinese-flag vessel owned and managed by COSCO Shipping Co. reached Venice with Bellissima loaded on deck.

Seven miles from the city Bellissima was put back into the water. The vessel subsequently entered the lagoon under its own engine and moored in the port of Venice where it will undergo further preparation prior to the first departure.

Nicko Tours recently announced a new optional post-cruise program available with all of Bellissima’s Po River cruises starting May 27. It adds a six-day stay at Montecatini Terme in Tuscany.

Nicko Tours has scheduled a total of 40 Venice departures with Bellissima in 2012.
