Costa Concordia captain’s house arrest extended

Costa Concordia Capt. Francesco Schettino is to remain under house arrest, a court in Florence, Italy, ordered on Tuesday.

According to Reuters and other news agencies, the judge turned down prosecutors’ requests to return Schettino to prison and his attorney’s argument that he should be released.

Schettino faces charges of manslaughter and abandoning ship.

Seventeen bodies have been recovered from the wreck of Costa Concordia.
